Event Masters takes a big step towards sustainability with the Travelife Award

Over the past few months, Event Masters has put a lot of effort into sustainability and corporate social responsibility. In return, the event agency is now being honored to receive the Travelife Partner Award. Travelife – founded with the support of the European Commission – is an international leading sustainability certification for the travel sector. Considering the international nature of their events, Event Masters made the commitment and successfully completed the intensive process that preceded it.

More than 100 criteria

The fact that Event Masters was able to take on this project and the company was able to achieve this, was in part thanks to the EU-funded SUSTOUR. SUSTOUR is specifically aimed at promoting sustainability in the European travel sector. The project supports more than 600 SMEs from 35 European countries.

Event Masters reported on more than 100 sustainability criteria that included issues such as the sustainable operation of their offices, their product portfolio, human rights, developing sustainable policies in terms of transportation, accommodations, suppliers of activities and excursions, etc. The Travelife standard covers the ISO 26000 Corporate Social Responsibility themes and is formally recognized as fully compliant with the UN-supported Global Sustainable Tourism Criteria.

The duty to conduct business responsibly

Lisa Dupond, Sustainability Coordinator at Event Masters explains the company’s future plans regarding sustainability: “Travelife offered us – in addition to reporting – a useful learning platform to delve deeper into sustainability. For example, we created an internal working group and worked intensively on our sustainability strategy. With this strategy, we are primarily focusing on the international department of our organization; the other departments will be implemented next. In the coming months, we will be rolling out our action plan and working even more concretely to achieve our sustainability ambitions.”

“It is our duty to conduct business in a sustainable and socially responsible manner. Our main focus is the environment, society, but also our partners, our suppliers and even our colleagues. From this sense of responsibility, we are particularly proud to receive the Travelife Partner Award and we will undoubtedly continue our efforts,” concludes CEO Bert Knuts.
